Directors of the Trustee Company The TRUSTEE of the Combined Fund is a Company - Combined Fund Pty Ltd. There are 11 DIRECTORS of the Trustee Company, comprising:
Directors are elected for 3 years. However, four (2 from each Electoral College) retire each December 31st , and those positions then re-open for nomination. Current Directors Are: Employer Electoral College Member Electoral College Independent Director Much of the day to day work related to the Fund is delegated to one of three Committees of Employer and Member representatives. Alan was elected as Director 2005 and is a member of the Governance and Compliance Committee He is a lawyer and currently runs a law practice incorporated with Coulter Roache in Geelong. He is also a primary producer and presently Chairman of the Council of The Geelong College, a position he has held for eleven years. He has been a member of the Council of The Geelong College for seventeen years and a Life Governor of The Geelong College. Alan is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.
Andrew was born in Canberra in 1963 and entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1981 graduating in 1984 with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering. His other academic qualifications include Master of Science (Cranfield, UK), Master of Defence Studies (University of Canberra) and Master of Business Administration (University of Canberra). After a successful military career involving operational tours to Rwanda and Bosnia, Andrew joined Geelong Grammar School as the Commercial Director in June 2000. He was appointed as the employee representative for Combined Schools Superannuation Fund when the Geelong Grammar Schools Superannuation Fund closed in 2002 and subsequently the employer representative for Combined Fund in 2005. Andrew was elected as an employer director in 2010 and is a member of the Investment Committee. Andrew is also a Director of Raffles College of Design and Commerce and a former Chairman of St Laurence Community Services Barwon Inc.
Brett has 24 years experience in the financial services industry, spanning insolvency, investment banking funds management directorships and consulting. Brett is a Chartered Accountant and a fellow of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Brett was appointed to the Combined Fund Board as an Independent Director in 2009. He is the Chairman of the Investment Committee.
Clovis is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He obtained a Diploma in Accounting at Auckland University and after employment with a small accounting practice and manufacturing group, ventured overseas. He worked in London for several years before arriving in Melbourne and spending 7 years as an Audit Manager with an antecedent firm of Deloitte and over 20 years as a Senior Manager involved as an advisor to banks and financial institutions in relation to major corporate insolvencies and restructures. Clovis is a director of B & C Advisory Group Pty Ltd, a business advisory and consulting firm specialising in advice to SME’s and NFP organisations. He also holds positions as Chairman, a Director and Committee member of various Boards and Committees in the areas of education, superannuation, health, transport and local government.
Doug is a long standing and experienced Trustee and Director of Combined Fund and is currently the Fund Secretary. He has been involved in the Australian investment and finance industry for over 25 years and was General Manager with ANZ Banking Group and held director positions with ANZ Trustees, ANZ Managed Investments, Esanda and ANZ McCaughan Dyson stockbrokers and managed the ANZ Bank Superannuation Fund. Doug is a qualified at fellow level as a Chartered Company Secretary. He is also a fellow of the Finance and Services Institute and the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees. He also holds a Diploma in Investment Practice. Doug has been active on the teacher’s education sector as a Director of Swinburne University. He is also the Chairman of Association Management Australia, a specialist consulting group, a former director of Box Hill Hospital and assisted in the establishment of the Bendigo Community Bank business and manages a private superannuation fund.
Gavin is a teacher of English and Literature at Haileybury College. He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts whilst studying in South Africa and has taught English, History and Economics in South Africa and England before marrying and moving to Australia. Gavin is the President of the Senior School Staff Association at Haileybury. He became a Director in 2011 and is a member of the Governance & Compliance Committee.
George is currently Business Manager at Heathdale Christian College. He has spent many years working in the financial industry as a Portfolio Accountant and Financial Controller. George has been a Director since July 2003 and is the Chairman of the Finance & Audit Committee. He has also served on APRA Licensing Committee. George is a Fellow of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (FASFA) George has been a member of ASFA’s Tax Committee as well as a member of the ASFA Legal and Compliance Committee.
John has been the Chairman of Combined Fund for 18 years and a Director of the Fund since 1 February 1978. John is a partner of Donaldson Trumble Lawyers. As a lawyer, he has acted over the years for a large number of industry and corporate superannuation funds and in addition to his knowledge of the law relative to superannuation, he has considerable experience in corporations and trust law. John is the President of the Council of Caulfield Grammar School. John has been one of the Law Institute of Victoria’s nominees on the board of legalsuper Pty Ltd since 2005 and is the Chair of the Audit and Governance Committee of legalsuper.
Ray has have been in my current administrative role at The Geelong College for more than 10 years after having spent many years previous in a variety of treasury roles within the banking and funds management industry. Ray is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services. Ray has been a member director for 3 years.
Richard has been an Employee Trustee/Director of Combined Fund since 1997. Richard currently teaches Mathematics at Taylors College, and has been the VCE Mathematics He has been the Chair of the Governance and Compliance Committee (previously the Legal committee) since 2005, and is a member of the Executive Committee. Richard is currently a member of Melbourne Race Club (Caulfield) and Port Melbourne Football Club.
Robert is Head of Senior Mathematics at the Wheelers Hill campus of Caulfield Grammar School. He hold a BSc(Hons) in Pure Mathematics and a Dip Ed. He taught in the Catholic sector in Victoria and the Government sector in New South Wales before returning to Victoria and Caulfield Grammar School where he has held his position for over 20 years. Robert was the staff representative to the internal Superannuation Committee of this school for several years before joining the Employee College of the Combined Fund and consequently its Board in 1996. Robert served on the Finance and Audit Committee for 15 years and is currently a member of the Investment Committee.
